What a Hoot! Great Resources from the Web

A Blog for Small Businesses

Did you know that placing your company logo in the upper left-hand side of emails improves visibility for your business?

There are wonderful resources out there that can help your business today.

One of them is code Hootsuite. There are many social media dashboards (Buffer, Tweetdeck, LaterBro, etc.) available but from my research and use of some of them, I always return to Hootesuite.

Last week I fell in love with it again.

In a nutshell, Hootesuite allows users to upload streams (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and RSS feeds), view updates and schedule posts.

Its Facebook feature was never great – but now it is thanks to a new upgrade. Users can now view comments, add comments, and upload photos and documents. It’s just like being on Facebook!

The advantage of a dashboard is that it can economize the time you spend on social media and allow you to schedule posts in advance. Everyone needs a dashboard.

Here are some other great resources I want to share

HubSpot provides some of the best tech blogs out there. Their blog, Half of Shoppers Spend 75 of Time Conducting Online Research, includes these great facts but be sure to read the entire post:

  • 1 in 3 shoppers (34%) spends a few days conducting online research about information-intensive products.
  • More than 4 in 10 of shoppers (44%) start their online product research process with a search engine.
  • When it comes to using social media for research, 7 in 10 shoppers (71%) either never (49%) or rarely (21%) use
social sites to research products and gather information.

5 Vanity Metrics to Stop Measuring (And Better Alternatives), also by HubSpot, provides nine email marketing best practices for lead generation. Here’s just one of their tips: Eye tracking studies indicate that putting your logo in the upper left-hand Side of the email will get it more visibility.

The last HubSpot blog I’m going to pitch: The Ultimate Google+ Sheet Cheat. Be certain to check it out.

All right, tired of writing your blog? Can’t figure out why it’s not leading to more leads, more email subscriptions, more sales? Then read copyblogger’s 23 Reasons Your Blog Isn’t Making Any Money And What To Do About It.

My last recommendation is written by Aseem Badshah, founder and president of Uptown Treehouse LLC, a social media and digital marketing agency. His blog, StumbleUpon for Marketers, explains why StumbleUpon can’t be ignored. Here’s just one great reason: It generates more referrals than Facebook, Twitter, Reddit and Digg combined.

Wow!
